- Governor Ademola Adeleke flagged off the reconstruction of key road networks and a bridge linking Ilahun and Ere Ìjèsà in Obokun LGA
- He said the projects would boost connectivity between Obokun and neighbouring Oriade and improve socio-economic activities
- Adeleke criticised lawmaker Wole Oke of the All Progressives Congress, accusing him of failing to attract development during his tenure
Governor Ademola Adeleke on Thursday flagged off the reconstruction of key road networks and a bridge in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development across the state.
The projects include the reconstruction of the bridge linking Ilahun and Ere Ìjèsà, as well as the Ibokun/Ilahun/Ere Ijesa–Iwoye Ìjèsà Road and the Otan-Ile–Esa Odo–Iwoye Ìjèsà Road. The developments are expected to enhance connectivity within Obokun and neighbouring Oriade Local Government Area.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Adeleke assured residents that contractors would immediately mobilise to site, stressing that his administration remained determined to complete all ongoing infrastructural projects.
He highlighted several road projects already completed and opened for public use, reiterating his commitment to improving the welfare of residents of the Ijesa North Federal Constituency.

However, the governor used the occasion to criticise a former lawmaker, Wole Oke of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing him of failing to attract meaningful development to the constituency despite serving five terms in the House of Representatives.
“It is painful and heartbreaking that an indigene of this local government, Wole Oke, who was privileged to be elected into the House of Representatives for five terms, failed to use his office for the benefit of his constituents,” Adeleke said.
He alleged that the lawmaker prioritised personal interests over constituency development, contrasting his record with what he described as his administration’s performance-driven approach to governance.

The governor also claimed that Oke and Senator Fadahunsi defected from their former party over disagreements regarding performance benchmarks and the issue of automatic tickets for re-election.
Earlier, the Obaala of Otan-Ile, High Chief Isiaka, commended Adeleke for what he described as multi-billion-naira infrastructural projects executed within three years, noting that the initiatives had transformed several communities across the state.
The road and bridge reconstruction projects are expected to improve transportation, boost local commerce and enhance socio-economic activities in the affected communities.
The statement announcing the development was signed by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to the Osun State Governor.
