- David Mark had assured ADC members of participation in the 2027 elections despite legal challenges
- The party had filed an appeal and sought a stay of execution against the court ruling
- Mark had pledged to personally lead efforts to overcome all litigations
The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, had reassured party members of its readiness to fully participate in the 2027 general elections, dismissing concerns surrounding ongoing legal disputes.
Mark gave the assurance on Wednesday night after receiving a detailed briefing from the party’s legal team regarding a recent judgment delivered by the Federal High Court in Abuja. Addressing party stakeholders, he expressed strong confidence that the ADC would successfully navigate all litigations currently before it.
“You do not have anything to be afraid of regarding all the litigations before the party,” Mark said, seeking to calm anxieties among members. He further emphasised that the party remained resolute in its determination to contest every available elective position in the next electoral cycle.
“I want to assure you that we shall triumph in all the cases, and we shall be on the ballot for every election,” he added.
The ADC chairman also underscored the party’s preparedness to exhaust all legal avenues in addressing the challenges. According to him, the party was fully equipped to handle the cases and would operate strictly within the bounds of the law.
“We are more than ready for these cases and will do everything within the ambit of the law to surmount every situation,” Mark stated, pledging to take an active role in steering the legal process.
In line with this commitment, the ADC’s legal team had already filed an appeal against the Federal High Court ruling and sought a stay of execution, signalling the party’s intent to challenge the judgment through appropriate judicial channels.
The development came at a crucial period as the ADC intensified its preparations for the 2027 general elections. Party officials described the moment as pivotal in strengthening the party’s position within Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly as it aimed to consolidate support and expand its influence.
Observers noted that Mark’s reassurance was likely to boost morale among party members and supporters, reinforcing confidence in the party’s leadership and legal strategy. By maintaining a firm stance, the ADC leadership sought to project stability and readiness despite the uncertainties posed by ongoing court proceedings.
Earlier in the day, the legal team had briefed Mark and other senior party figures on the implications of the court’s decision, outlining strategic steps for the cases ahead.
ADC crisis deepens as Bala confirms presence at leadership meeting
Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that the internal crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has intensified, as factional national chairman Nafiu Bala confirmed that he was present at the meeting where an interim leadership led by former Senate President David Mark was installed in July 2025.
The development marks a significant moment in the party’s ongoing leadership dispute, which has since split the ADC into two factions—one aligned with Mark and the other led by Bala.
