The governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has categorically denied widespread rumours suggesting he is planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement shared via his verified Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) accounts, Governor Lawal reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP, describing himself as a "bona fide member" of the party.
He urged the public to ignore what he termed as "fake news" being circulated by political detractors.
“I am Dauda Lawal, a bona fide member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Disregard the fake news from detractors determined to distract us from the RESCUE MISSION we have embarked on,” the Governor stated.
Lawal emphasised that his primary focus remains on fulfilling the mandate given to him by the people of Zamfara State, adding that he would not be swayed by political distractions.
The clarification follows mounting speculation across various media platforms, suggesting that the governor was contemplating a switch to the APC.
Zamfara State, located in Nigeria’s North-West region, has been a focal point in recent political developments, with tensions high ahead of future electoral contests.

Speaking at a roundtable discussion organised by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission(ICPC) for state attorneys general in Abuja on Monday, September 9, Fagbemi said:
“Let us be thorough and take our time before inviting someone for questioning. Don’t do a shoddy job and be quick to say we have caught a big fish…You will catch a big fish. If it is two or three big fish you are able to get in a year, and you are thorough, it is alright.”
