Presidential aspirant on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, Ada Kate Uchegbu, has urged Nigerians to embrace fresh leadership as she declared that the country is tired of “recycled politicians.”

The journalist-turned-politician made the comments in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Thursday, stressing the need for a female president to bring a new perspective to governance in Nigeria.

Uchegbu argued that decades of male-dominated leadership had left the nation grappling with insecurity, hunger, unemployment, and despair, calling for a generational and gender shift in political leadership.

“It is time for a nurturing and visionary leadership style that only a woman’s heart can deliver. Nigeria deserves a fresh deal for the country to become better,” Uchegbu said.

She further appealed to political parties across the country to present female presidential candidates in the 2027 general elections, emphasizing the role of African women as capable leaders.

“Nigeria is at a breaking point. We have recycled leaders and expected different results. It hasn’t worked. I am stepping in because we need a generational shift in both age and mindset,” she added.

Uchegbu also highlighted the importance of integrity and competence in elections, calling on voters to prioritize merit over money or political godfathers. She urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to guarantee transparency, protect voters from intimidation, and ensure credible governance.

“This election is a chance to set the tone for credible governance nationwide,” she concluded.
