  • He pleaded that Nigerians be patient as his administration is doing all it can to reduce the high cost of living
  • Many Nigerians berate him on social media and some said he should resign if he cannot perform his duties as a leader

President Bola Tinubu has come under fire on social media for telling Nigerians that his administration is beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel as the reforms he is implementing are showing positive signs.

He said this while addressing Nigerians in the early hours of the 64th anniversary of Nigeria’s Independence Day on Tuesday, October 1.

He said: “Fellow Nigerians, as I address you today, I am deeply aware of the struggles many of you face in these challenging times. Our administration knows that many of you struggle with rising living costs and the search for meaningful employment. I want to assure you that your voices are heard.

“As your President, I assure you that we are committed to finding sustainable solutions to alleviate the suffering of our citizens. Once again, I plead for your patience as the reforms we are implementing show positive signs, and we are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel,” Tinubu added.

He pleaded for Nigerians to be patient as his administration is doing everything possible to reduce the cost of living.

“The central concern of our people today, is the high cost of living especially food cost. This concern is shared by many around the globe as prices and the cost of living continue to rise worldwide.

“My fellow Nigerians, please be assured that we are implementing many measures to reduce the cost of living here at home,” President Tinubu further stated.

He also commended the governors of some states like Kebbi, Niger, Jigawa, Kwara, Nasarawa and other South West governors for embracing the agricultural production programme and urged other governors to follow suit.

Nigerians react to President Tinubu’s speech

Many Nigerians criticised President Tinubu saying his reforms are not seen and that the only thing visible is the new presidential private jet, yacht and corruption.

Many declared that there was no light at the end of the tunnel as the president claimed. Some Nigerians said electing him into office was the greatest mistake ever made and others believe his government had failed.

Cabinet Reshuffle: Tinubu demands performance reports as lobbying allegedly intensifies

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that President Bola Tinubu called for fresh scorecards from his 46 ministers, prompting an increase in lobbying efforts among political figures and cabinet members seeking to secure their positions.

The Presidency confirmed on Wednesday, September 25, that the planned cabinet shake-up is imminent, aligning with reports from earlier this month.
