- Early morning prayer livestreams have become a daily routine for millions of Nigerians, connecting worshippers through platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Mixlr and ministry apps
- Popular programmes such as NSPPD, Prophetic Prayer Hour, Koinonia, Dunamis, Zion Prayer Movement, Open Heavens and MFM have built large and engaged online communities across Nigeria and the diaspora
- While different ministries offer unique styles of worship and prayer, consistency in personal devotion remains more important than following the most popular livestream
For millions of Nigerians, the day doesn't begin with checking emails or scrolling through social media—it begins with prayer.
Thanks to YouTube, Facebook, Mixlr and dedicated ministry apps, early morning prayer has become a daily digital routine for people across Nigeria and the diaspora. Whether commuting to work, preparing children for school or getting ready for the day, many believers tune in to livestreams for worship, declarations, Bible teaching and communal prayer.
While exact daily audience figures are rarely made public, several prayer programmes have built large and consistent online communities over the years. Here are some of the most widely followed.
1. New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD)
Led by Pastor Jerry Eze, NSPPD has become one of Africa's biggest online prayer movements.
Broadcast live on multiple digital platforms, the programme attracts worshippers from around the world who gather for extended sessions of prayer, testimonies and scriptural declarations. Its global reach and active online community have made it one of the most recognisable names in digital ministry.
2. Prophetic Prayer Hour (PPH)
Hosted by Rev. Sam Oye, Prophetic Prayer Hour has developed a loyal following among believers seeking structured morning prayers and biblical encouragement.
The programme combines worship, scripture and practical teaching, with participants joining from Nigeria and many other countries through livestreaming platforms.
3. Koinonia prayer broadcasts
Although Koinonia is widely known for its teaching meetings led by Apostle Joshua Selman, its prayer sessions and livestream broadcasts also attract significant online audiences.
Many viewers begin their mornings by listening to prayer replays, worship sessions and messages that focus on spiritual growth and personal development.
4. Dunamis morning prayers
The Dunamis International Gospel Centre, led by Dr Paul Enenche, regularly streams prayer meetings, devotional sessions and worship services online.
Its digital broadcasts are followed by worshippers seeking spiritual encouragement before beginning their daily activities.
5. Zion Prayer Movement Outreach
Led by Evangelist Ebuka Obi, Zion Prayer Movement Outreach has become one of Nigeria's fastest-growing online prayer communities.
Its livestreams feature extended prayer sessions, worship and testimonies that attract viewers from across the country and beyond.
6. Open Heavens daily devotional broadcasts
Inspired by Pastor Enoch Adeboye's widely read Open Heavens devotional, various official platforms stream daily reflections and prayers that many Christians use as part of their morning routine.
The combination of Bible study and practical application continues to make it a favourite among believers.
7. Catholic morning prayer livestreams
Several Catholic dioceses, parishes and ministries now broadcast morning Mass, the Rosary, Divine Mercy prayers and daily reflections online.
These programmes have made it easier for worshippers to participate in daily prayer, especially when they cannot attend church physically.
8. Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) online prayers
Known for its emphasis on deliverance and spiritual warfare, MFM streams prayer programmes that attract thousands of viewers seeking guidance, encouragement and spiritual renewal.
Its digital platforms have expanded the ministry's reach to audiences far beyond its physical locations.
Why online prayer continues to grow
The popularity of digital prayer programmes reflects broader changes in how people practise their faith.
Livestreaming allows worshippers to participate regardless of their location, making it easier for busy professionals, students and Nigerians living abroad to remain connected to their faith communities.
Online platforms also make it possible to replay sermons, revisit prayer sessions and engage with believers from different parts of the world.
Choosing the right prayer programme
With so many options available, finding the right programme depends on your personal spiritual needs.
Some people prefer short devotional sessions before work, while others enjoy longer prayer meetings that include worship, Bible teaching and testimonies. Exploring different ministries can help you find a format that supports your spiritual growth and daily routine.
The most important thing is consistency. A regular time of prayer and reflection often has a greater impact than simply following the most popular livestream.
EFCC cleared Pastor Jerry Eze after six-month money laundering probe – Olukoyede
Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has revealed that the commission investigated Jerry Eze, founder of Streams of Joy International, for six months over suspected money laundering before clearing him of any wrongdoing.
Olukoyede made the disclosure on Wednesday, April 29, while speaking at the Jerry Eze Foundation Business Grant Award Ceremony in Abuja.
According to him, the investigation was triggered by intelligence reports and petitions after the commission detected significant inflows of foreign currencies into the cleric’s domiciliary account.
