  • The pastor reportedly convinced members to relocate with him to a secluded camp in Ekiti State
  • Nigerians responded with some calling out gullibility and others blaming lack of religious oversight

A Nigerian pastor, Ade Abraham of Christ High Commission Ministry in Kaduna State, is making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Reports claim that Pastor Abraham persuaded his followers to relocate with him to a camp in Ekiti State in preparation for the end of the world.

Back in 2022, Pastor Abraham allegedly charged each member of his congregation N310,000, telling them it was the cost to "fly them to heaven."

He convinced them to leave their homes and settle in the Ekiti camp in preparation for the end of the world.

Viral footage circulating on social media shows the secluded camp where the pastor has reportedly kept his members in April 2022.

Now, as the footage resurfaces, Nigerians are reacting once again with disbelief, sarcasm, and anger:

@EuchariaUrantaO jokes: “Wo! Una sure say no be proof of fund the man dey find to take japa so?? Kai! And some of his gullible church members have fallen for this scam!”

@dimeji_holla quipped, “So to go heaven cheap laidis?”

@ThaDarkCorner added humour with a touch of concern: “These are the people that will vote during election.”

Others expressed their disbelief:

@HenryNwokedi: “Can’t believe Nigerians can still fall for these tricks.”

@brian_daco: “He should have charged 300 million, that way he can arrange and put them on a rocket.”

@Terry_Jizu voiced frustration: “This is how they keep brainwashing Africans, especially Nigerians, in the name of Christianity and politics. May the world forbid!”

@Lifeissues_11 criticised the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for its perceived silence: “What renders Christianity useless is the lack of an independent body to oversee the criminal, fraudulent and deceptive activities of false pastors… CAN is ineffective.”

@Dxcmodels said: “They should goan lock the members up, they are the problems we have in Nigeria.”

Some responses, like @alexj_proper's, leaned toward satire: “Ekiti na take-off point to heaven... where’s the pastor now? Hope say em don reach heaven.”
