- Nigerian travel creator Alma Asinobi attempts to break the Guinness World Record for visiting all seven continents in the shortest time
- Alma aims to complete the journey in under 70 hours, surpassing the current record of 73 hours
- Alma’s journey aims to inspire young Black women and solo travelers worldwide
Nigerian travel and lifestyle content creator Alma Asinobi is on a daring mission to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest journey across all seven continents.
The 26-year-old globe-trotter aims to complete the feat in under 70 hours, surpassing the current record of 73 hours (3 days, 1 hour, 5 minutes, and 4 seconds) held by Sujoy Kumar Mitra and Dr. Ali Irani.
Alma's journey, set to begin on March 15th in Antarctica, will take her across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania.
If successful, she will become the youngest and only Black solo traveller to achieve this remarkable milestone.
A journey of representation and resilience
For Alma, this record attempt is about more than just speed, it’s a statement about representation and accessibility in global travel.
“This attempt is about showing what’s possible for young African women and anyone with a low-mobility passport.
“I’m determined to complete this journey in under 70 hours, proving that determination can overcome barriers in global travel. I don’t want my dreams or adventures to be determined by the color of my skin or the color of my passport,” she explains.
Alma has dedicated her career to making international travel more accessible to those with restrictive passports.
Through her engaging storytelling and informative content, she provides valuable insights on navigating visas and global mobility challenges.
Beyond the potential world record, she hopes her journey will spotlight the difficulties travelers from underrepresented backgrounds face.
“Most travel content focuses on the destinations, but not enough on how to actually get there, especially with visa restrictions.
“I wanted to fill that gap for people like me,” Alma says.
With over 200,000 followers on social media, Alma has built a loyal community of travel enthusiasts.
Her authentic approach has led to collaborations with global brands like Sony, Mastercard, and Spotify, and she has delivered two TEDx Talks on travel accessibility.
Her impact in the industry has not gone unnoticed, she was nominated for ‘Travel & Leisure Influencer of the Year’ at the 2022 Pulse Influencer Awards and was recently recognised as one of the 2024 Top 100 Influential Nigerians by List NG.
Media platforms such as ThisDay Live and BellaNaija have also celebrated her contributions to women’s development.
Alma’s record-breaking bid is backed by brands like Risevest, whose Global Chief Marketing Officer, Eneyi Obi, highlighted its significance. “Alma’s attempt represents a major moment for diversity in global adventure travel. Her journey will inspire countless travellers from underrepresented backgrounds, and we at Risevest are glad to be catalysts in making this feat a reality.”
As Alma embarks on this historic challenge during Women’s Month, she continues to inspire millions, especially young Black women and solo travellers, proving that no dream is too big, no border too far, and no challenge insurmountable.
