- Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus recently commended the economic performance of Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu regime
- Quoting statistics, the actress noted that the imports activities in the country has reduced and there are more exports activities
- Her commendation, however, didn't sit well with Nigerians who have criticized her recent statements
Popular Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has been criticised by Nigerians for praising the economic performance of President Bola Tinubu-led administration.
This is not the first time Eniola Badmus has come under fire as a supporter of the Tinubu administration. She has severally faced backlash and her latest post was no exception.
In a recent Instagram story screenshot circulating online on September 16, Eniola commended the administration’s economic efforts citing a huge trade surplus, which she said shows Nigeria's economic growth.
“Our imports are reducing, and our exports are increasing. That is a sign that our economy is expanding. For the year to date 2024, our imports were N24.44 trillion while our exports stood at N38.59 trillion.
This gives us an unprecedented trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months. It has never happened in Nigeria. Never. This is a refreshing shift from consumption to production,” Eniola explained.
Following her statements, Nigerians have faulted her analysis and rained criticism on the actress for supporting the present administration despite the poor economic realities Nigerians are struggling with.
