- A netizen made a post about Moses Bliss charging N7 million per ministration
- Some dragged the gospel singer for not ministering for a lower price
- Others defended him, claiming he has bills to pay like secular artistes
Nigerians have been defending gospel singer Moses Bliss, who came under fire on social media for allegedly charging N7 million as a performance fee.
It all started when a netizen, Joshua with the handle @JJExclusive1, posted:
“I was told you need N7 million to invite moses bliss for ministration, they should kuku invite Olamide instead, make he come sing “baba mo ro wo re ninu aye mi…” church go even over full.”
Netizens in the comment section expressed shock at the information, dragging the gospel singer.
Some Nigerians then began to compare gospel musicians to secular musicians, claiming that gospel musicians should not sell their craft but should perform for God.
While some people thought the amount was too much for a gospel singer to charge per performance, others thought it was fair and defended Moses Bliss, saying he is an artiste like every other artiste who has to pay bills.
Nigerians defend Moses Bliss' N7m reported charge
Here are some of the comments that followed:
@AjeboDanny posted: “There’s nothing wrong with his charge, he’s singing just like every other singer is doing.”
@tonysnip3r posted: “There is literally no difference between gospel artiste and circular artiste. Some gospel artiste even charge more than N7m they will add logistics and the likes to your bill, just to come and minster oo.”
@Wizebaba posted: “7m too small tbh. Shey na only worldly artistes go dey ball??”
@Irunnia_ posted: “I honestly do not see anything wrong here sha. He’s an artiste at his prime, he’s got his band and others that he will pay after the show. This is his price, if they can’t afford it they should meet someone else.”
@JJExclusive1 posted: “What happened to doing it for free or a less amount ? It is not “God’s work” ? Are ministers of God suppose to be charging that high to come and minister to the people of God ?”
@47kasz posted: “7milly??? Wow”
@tehmetaryor posted: “Some things r just logic but u can cook sha. Do u want him to pay his band members from his pocket or just tell em "bless u", logistics, feeding, accomodations, instruments? If he keeps removing it 4rm his pocket and does ministration for free, how e wan keep up? Continue cooking.”
@omo_akin4real posted: “So you have no problem paying 7 million to a worldly artist, but you have issues paying 7 million to a person who will bless your soul. Wow, bible talks about people like you in Proverbs 20:15, Proverbs 3:13-15, Proverbs 8:10-11, Proverbs 16:16.”
@ChroniclesPHC posted: “PAY GOSPEL ARTISTES..... If Moses Bliss decides to say, give offering as your heart is led during a ministration it's still you people that will come online and criticize him.
He has chosen to get paid legitimately and you still have a problem? In case you don't know; HE PAYS SALARY TO HIS BAND.
PAYS FOR STUDIO SESSION. PAYS FOR VIDEOGRAPHERS TO MAKE MUSIC VIDEOS. PAYS LOGISTICS TO GET TO WHERE HE WILL MINISTER..... And other expenses..... How would he meet all these without charging a fee? Offering? Tithe? Seed donation? All of which you people have condemned. My brother you go need off the gas for this cooking....”
Chidinma, TY Bello, 4 other secular artistes who have become gospel singers
Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported on secular musicians who have now become gospel singers.
The notion that surrounds secular music is usually that it is appealing, profitable, and flashy, yet some popular gospel artistes have dumped it.
Many of them were previously known by fans and listeners as secular artistes before switching to singing fully as gospel musicians.
