Nollywood actor Zubby Michael has revealed that he recently distributed ₦10.2 million to people in need on the streets, describing the gesture as his personal form of “tithe”.

Speaking during an interview with Broadway TV, the actor explained that the donation represented 10 per cent of ₦102 million he had earned from film roles in a relatively short period. He clarified that this figure did not reflect his entire career earnings, but rather income generated from recent acting engagements.

Michael stated that his decision to give directly to the less privileged stemmed from his personal beliefs about religion and charitable giving. According to him, he does not attend church and does not subscribe to the traditional practice of paying tithe within religious institutions.

He said: “Not to brag, but I am the richest actor. The last time I checked my records, I realised I had made ₦102 million from artists’ fees recently — not in my whole career, but just lately.”

Explaining his actions further, he added: “I donated ₦10.2 million, which is 10 per cent of that money, to the needy on the street. I don’t pay tithe to the church. I don’t go to church, and I don’t believe in paying tithe to the church.”

His comments have since sparked conversations among fans and observers, particularly around the concept of tithing and alternative approaches to charity. While some have praised his direct support for vulnerable individuals, others have debated his views on organised religion and traditional giving practices.

Michael’s remarks highlight an ongoing discussion within Nigerian society about faith, wealth, and social responsibility, especially among public figures whose actions often influence public opinion.
