The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) hosted its cultural night on Friday, May 9.

The event had kicked off earlier with a four-day lineup of activities to celebrate different facets of the film industry, from honouring pioneers and emerging talent to showcasing African culture and storytelling.

The cultural night saw Nollywood actors and actresses in their finest traditional wear.

The event was a colourful celebration of African heritage, through fashion, music, food and storytelling, bringing a visual feast and a beautiful reminder of the different cultures that continue to grow in creativity across Africa.

Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Nelly, rocked Edo traditional outfits, bringing out the aesthetics of the culture, alongside Efe Irele, and former Big Brother Naija housemate Prince, who eventually won the best-dressed male of the event.

The Yoruba outfits were awesome, from extravagant Agbada made from Yoruba traditional material Ofi, to the accessories—beads and Opa(staff).

Former BBNaija housemates Yemi Cregx, Elozonam, Saga, Cross, TV host VJ Adams, Do2dtun, Akin Faminu, and many others rocked it right.

Another Yoruba cultural outfit that has got people talking is ex-BBNaija housemate, Ka3na, who came in depicting the Yoruba god called “Ajé” (wealth). Her overall white Ofi with sea shells and cowries dangling at the hem of her Agbada, coupled with the crown, gave a sense of the rich Yoruba culture.

The Igbo cultural outfits were intrinsically presented. Stan Nze, the host for the event outdid himself with the red Isi-agu with blue shirt and robe made of fur, his cap symbolising chieftaincy and the staff used in complementing the outfit, Chimezie Imo, Uche Jombo, former Bbn star, Liquorose (female best-dressed), Chi Chi, and many more come and looked stunning.

Lateef Adedimeji and his wife came to represent the Hausa tribe. Olivia Chioma Okoro and Hawa Magaji also came out looking beautiful with beaded embroideries.

Many more different tribes were represented, from Ghana, Ijaw, Igala, and many more. Celebrities came together to make the event colourful.

The grand finale, Awards Day, will be held today, Saturday, May 1,0 with the glamour of the Red Carpet at 4 PM WAT, where celebrities, nominees and guests. Then at 7 PM WAT, the Main Awards Ceremony will begin, recognising some of the most outstanding work in African film and television over the past year.
