Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, and media personality, Lauren Sanchez, have officially tied the knot in a lavish, multi-day wedding celebration on San Giorgio Island, Venice, Italy.
The exclusive event, which spanned several days, attracted over 200 elite guests from around the world, including top names from business, politics, entertainment, and royalty. Among those in attendance were Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Queen Rania of Jordan, Bill Gates, Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, and OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman.
The ceremony took place at the historic Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore, set against the stunning Venetian skyline. Bezos, 60, wore a classic black tuxedo and bow tie, while Sanchez, 54, stunned in a couture Dolce & Gabbana gown inspired by classic Italian elegance, featuring intricate lace details and 180 silk-covered buttons. Reports revealed that Sanchez's bridal wardrobe for the celebration included over 27 designer outfits, with pieces from Versace, Oscar de la Renta, and others.
A major highlight of the event was a romantic live performance by Matteo Bocelli, son of opera legend Andrea Bocelli, who serenaded the couple with a love ballad, including a rendition of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
The festivities extended beyond the ceremony, with themed parties that included a masquerade ball at the Venetian Arsenal, a foam party, and an exclusive gathering aboard Bezos's $500 million yacht, Koru.
Despite the glamour, the extravagant wedding sparked protests from local groups, criticising the scale of the celebration and its environmental impact on the historic city. Nonetheless, reports indicate the event brought a significant economic boost to Venice, with donations reportedly made towards lagoon preservation.
Sanchez later confirmed the wedding on Instagram, sharing a romantic photo with Bezos, captioned with a simple heart emoji.
The couple, engaged since May 2023, have been together since 2019, with their relationship frequently making international headlines.
