- Netizens react to the incident, criticising Lil Smart for accepting VDM's money.
In a recent development, dancer and singer Lil Smart explained his decision to distance himself from social media critic Martins Otse, also known as Verydarkman (VDM), after receiving N1 million from him.
Lil Smart expressed distrust towards VDM's intentions and found his concern regarding his situation suspicious as he tagged his (Lil Smart) allegations of Naira Marley's alleged kidnapping “not adding up.”
He also cited VDM's controversial handling of the late singer Mohbad's case as a factor in his decision, adding that he wants to avoid following a similarly unproductive path.
This situation escalated after Lil Smart accused fellow artists Naira Marley and Zinoleesky of assault and attempted kidnapping. VDM had offered to assist Lil Smart in taking his allegations to the Abuja Police Command. Still, Lil Smart ultimately did not follow through, failing to attend meetings related to the case.
In a series of shared conversations, VDM questioned why Lil Smart had been ignoring him since he sent the money, considering the urgency of the allegation.
Consequently, Lil Smart asked if VDM wanted a refund of the N1 million, stating that accepting the money didn't mean VDM had control over him or the case.
On his Instagram reels, he posted: “Just because you sent me money doesn't mean I will do things in your way or tell you everything I'm going…. I ghosted you because your concern on my case was suspicious after u lebel the video i posted of my attack “my words are not adding up"
“And with the way u handled MOHBAD case turning everything to DNA test Makes it hard to let u involved in my case. The world 🌍will see if I would get justice or not,‼️”
VDM responded to Lil Smart's decision to refund the N1 million but with a stern warning. He took to social media to issue an ultimatum to Lil Smart:
"Wahala!!! I sent lilsmart 1million naira for flight since Tuesday and ghosted me, return my money or come down to Abuja to push your case, if I don't hear anything from you by next week I will write a petition saying you obtained me via false pretense,e. #Wahala.”
Netizens' reactions to Lil Smart's ghosting
The incident sparked a strong reaction from netizens, with many criticising Lil Smart for accepting VDM's financial support while not pursuing the case as promised.
