- Emmanuel Odiniya has broken his silence over the reported assault involving his daughter, BBNaija star Ilebaye
- He claimed the altercation was triggered by frustration over her alleged change in behaviour after winning the reality show
- Despite the accusations, Emmanuel expressed love for his daughter and called for reconciliation
Father of former Big Brother Naija All Stars winner (Ilebaye Odiniya), Emmanuel Odiniya, has spoken publicly following the viral family altercation involving his daughter, saying the incident stemmed from frustration and repeated conflict between them.
In a voice note that surfaced online and was shared by Kogi-based journalist Jeremiah Promise Enemona Ocheme on Facebook, Emmanuel denied claims that he hated his daughter, insisting that he had always supported her career and success.
“I want to put the records straight that what led to that incident was not that I don’t love my daughter. She is one of my best children,” he said.
According to him, he played a major role in supporting Ilebaye during her time on the reality show, claiming he used his influence and connections to mobilise votes that contributed to her victory.
“During her time in the Big Brother Naija house, I contributed a lot. I stood by my daughter and made sure people voted for her massively,” he stated.
Emmanuel alleged that things changed after her win, claiming the relationship between them became strained.
He accused the reality star of becoming distant and disrespectful toward him.
“After she came out and won, she changed. Ilebaye stopped listening to me. She stopped regarding me as her father,” he alleged.
He also criticised her alleged cosmetic procedures, saying he advised her against undergoing surgeries at a young age.
The father further claimed that there had been previous physical confrontations between them, alleging that his daughter once attacked him with an AC hanger, leaving him injured.
“She has hit me twice, and I didn’t do anything to her,” he claimed.
Speaking on the recent altercation, Emmanuel alleged that the confrontation escalated after Ilebaye allegedly assaulted him first.
“In this recent incident, she insulted me, hit me first with a sea hanger, causing bleeding, pushed me, and then broke an electric lantern on my head,” he said.
He also accused his daughter of refusing to support him financially despite his health condition.
According to him, he had requested financial assistance for medical treatment in Dubai, but she allegedly declined.
“I am very sick and needed to go for medical treatment in Dubai. I called Ilebaye to help me with some money and promised to refund her,” he said.
Emmanuel additionally accused the reality TV star of negatively influencing her younger brother and interfering in family matters.
Despite the accusations, he maintained that he still loves his daughter and hopes for reconciliation.
“I still love my daughter deeply. I want her to change and do better. I ask for prayers from Nigerians,” he added.
The family dispute drew public attention after Ilebaye shared an emotional livestream video that sparked concern among fans online.
The spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed that members of the family sustained injuries during the confrontation and were receiving treatment in hospital.
According to the police, investigations into the incident are ongoing, while the siblings involved remain under protective custody.
