  • The viral interview video got netizens talking on social media, with many questioning his statement because of the importance of drinking water

90-year-old Nigerian Nobel playwright and novelist, Wole Soyinka, has disclosed how drinking wine in place of water helps spark his creativity.

Soyinka shared that rather than providing the necessary inspiration and satisfaction, water just takes up space, which is why he tries to avoid it.

In a snippet of a yet-to-be-released full interview with CNN’s Larry Madowo, trending on social media, on September 20, the literary icon revealed that wine does the magic for him.

According to him, it is essential to ensure a good sleep and ignite the inspiration needed for him to work.

In his words, while explaining his reasons, “ Water takes up space and you know it belongs to other commodities. So, I am not keen on water. I avoid water as much as possible.

A good robust wine either sends you to sleep right away or inspires you to work. You never know which wine will work.” the Nobel laureate said.

Following his recent disclosure, many netizens have argued out whether or not the Professor is right in his opinion especially because of the importance people place on drinking water.
