  • Famakin accused Chief Priest of threatening his life over the review of Donald’s restaurant
  • Nigerians react, some believe the review was honest, and others think he had an ulterior motive

In a dramatic development, popular food critic, Opeyemi Famakin, has accused celebrity bartender, Cubana Chief priest of sending him threats over the review of his son’s restaurant in Imo State.

Famakin shared the direct message Cubana Chief Priest sent him on Instagram over the food review on social media on Thursday, September 12.

The message said: “Karma is real you must pay for whatsoever you sow in life I don’t fight low life’s i leave them to karma, the business you did your wicked review is owned by a 6 years old (laughing emoji)”

Famakin then posted a screenshot of the message from the celebrity bartender and captioned it: “I Know A Threat When I See One, I guess Its Time To Leave Imo State ASAP. If anything happens to me while I am here, well, you know who to hold. I love how he was polite in the comment section for the world to see and it was a different tone in my Dm’s”

In the review, Famakin applauded the management of Donald’s restaurant on the decor, protein portion sizes and the local dishes. He also commended them on their fresh juice.

He, however, criticised the pastries which he claimed were microwaved after he ordered for them. He advised that the burgers especially, should be made fresh and if there was any need to warm it up, it should be in an oven not in a microwave.  He also mentioned that the pastry chef “needs to be taught a few things.

Although, towards the end of the video, he implied that the video would probably cost him his safety but that he is not a coward.

Nigerians react to Famakin’s accusation

Many Nigerians who reacted to Famakin’s accusation said that the review felt honest and constructive to them.  Some people advised the businessman to take to correction and improve his restaurant. A few netizens believe Famakin should have reached out to Cubana in private and not reveal the review to the public.

Here are some of the comments:

@Dr_Pharouk posted: “Opeyemi made an amazing review and any business man who hears this should just do the needful. Nothing more than that. Burger is not eba that we should be warming.”

@Buddin_Rapunzel posted: “I do not see anything wrong with the review, it’s an honest one.

From the video, you can tell the pastries are hard, not soft. Like he said, Cubana should work on changing the pastry chef.”

@mcfc_jagaban posted: “In all in all, he hasn't said anything wrong. Yes, you don't warm  burger in the microwave. Ingredients should be on standby and whenever an order is being placed. You made them fresh. He was even polite in his review. Cubana ChiefPriest been acting like he is a demi-god and thinks he can always get away with any crime he committed bcos he is rich and influential. Clown 🤡”

@Nimiofficial posted: “I’m not his biggest fan - this is one of his few sensible reviews. He wasn’t trying to denigrate, he critiqued and offered a solution. Chief priest should go and rest.”

@iam_mozeas posted: “Nigerians don’t know how to handle reviews and they take it as criticism”

@groovepapi posted: “That’s a harmless video, and what does he mean that the restaurant is owned by a 6 year old? Na the 6 year old Dey manage the restaurant? If Cubana doesn’t believe what he said about the burger, then he should come up with points countering him, it’s really that simple.”

@gbengaday posted: “I love honest reviews like this, helps to keep the establishment on their toes.. Any serious business always look at improving quality of service, and in this case quality of food.. Nothing wrong with this review at all..”

@__arike_adey posted: “Yeah, I get he was giving a “honest” review but ending the video with “I know this is gon cost me my life but mama didn’t raise a bitch” is so wrong.

Like what do you mean by that??”

@lollybwoy posted: “He had something on his mind before going there, other video he makes he show their best dishes but this time around the case is different and Cp is not threatening him just wishing him what he wish other people.”

@Xandyy_Jay posted: “He didn't say anything wrong here. He is right. But there are ways you communicate things to the owner of a firm/company etc, you don't just put it out like this. If the corrections are made, will another video be made to correct this wrong, no. If they don't fix up, he can now make a video showing he came there first time and it hasn't changed. So he is wrong this time. Lastly, no one should be denied Freedom of speech, say anything, so far you can be like mandela.”
