- The reality TV star, also known as Chioma Goodhair, took to her Instagram story to share how the Lagos State Building Control Agency hindered her from retrieving the remains of her properties
- Netizens advised against investing in Nigeria from the diaspora, citing the need for reassurance and protection for investors
The recent demolition of The Good Hair Space has sparked widespread reactions online, with many advising against investing in Nigeria.
Former Real Housewives of Lagos star Chioma Goodhair took to her Instagram story to express frustration with the Lagos State Government and demand close contact with the Governor.
On January 2, 2025, Chioma posted videos of her business, The Good Hair Space, being demolished at No. 1 Olubunmi Owa Street, Lekki Phase 1.
According to Chioma, the authorities issued her a notice to vacate the premises between December 5th and 10th, which she stated she had no issues complying with. However, after the demolition, when she brought in trucks to retrieve the remains of her belongings, she encountered difficulties.
While attempting to recover her remaining property, Chioma was allegedly intimidated and prevented from doing so by the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA). The agency, accompanied by policemen and other officials, claimed to be acting on orders from the Lagos State Government.
The situation escalated as Chioma and her staff were reportedly harassed and threatened, leading to a heated confrontation. Chioma has since called out the Lagos State governor, Sanwo-Olu, to intervene in the matter.
The demolition of Chioma Goodhair's store has sparked various reactions online. While some netizens have advised against investing in Nigeria, others have been accused of reacting based on sentiment and tribalistic views. Here are some reactions:
@Chiomabonny posted: “Again, stop buying properties and lands in Lagos; if you do, you are doing it at your own risk. Chiomagoodhair's beautiful biz space has been demolished. Don’t invest there!. 😌”
@Akintollgate commented: “I am having PTSD! Chioma worked so hard to build this brand, I don’t even know how to feel. Stood in her shoes exactly 10 months ago with the demolition of businesses at the landmark beach!
This is certainly discouraging to many of us who build fine establishments locally!”
@Lildon_dammy commented : “To Japa with that millions of naira is better than investing in Nigeria , Chioma incident is another example of money cannot save you when Nigeria decides to happen to you K”
@Bong_not_james commented: “People will not see the notices of 5th and 10th December boldly written on the fence. But una no like truth for social media so make una carry go.”
@mz_toolz56 commented: “@bond_not_james So because there is a 5th & 10th notice on the building which has already been demolished, they have the right to cart away with their properties as well??!! I believe she is audible enough and you can hear where she said they want to take away her properties Abi they also bought the properties for them??”
@blackmadrina commented: “because she is Igbo😢”
@michael_35z commented: “why haven't they take the thing away before the officers arrived?. Y'all claims u want to see Nigeria work but sentiments keep eating u people up”
@darlakos commented: 5 days to pack up years of her investment in that space? You think 5 days is enough notice? Ok”
@immawoke commented: “okay since she hasn't packed up before the officers came, her belongings are now automatically there's? What happened to the policemen supervising them while they pack there stuff instead of the harassment, please explain your thought process to me so I can understand how you think in other to not mistake you for a goat.”
@dr_krystal.chanchangi commented: “This makes me very scared to bring my business to Nigeria. Waking up to demolition after all my investments and commitments. Oh no”
@FSWglory commented: “NO MATTER WHAT, nobody should have to deal with this level of cruelty in this barbaric manner as meted out by these uniformed individuals or whatever the hell they represent. This is b*llsh*t!
It's the start of a new year for crying out loud. What the f*ck?!
What sort of country is this that enjoys wickedness so much more than empathy? 🤬”
@_George_diamond commented: “Tomorrow, chioma may decide to pack up and move abroad, jobs lost and then get in a popular position, then Abike and your vice president will start hounding her like rabid dogs to hawk Nigeria for their silly asses smh”
@ArtIsANeed commented: “"Lagos is open for investment", "I want the diaspora to return and invest" - absolute swine in charge of the state and country”
@ComradeAtt commented: “‘Invest in your own country’ ‘Come back and set up your business’
Nigeria is such a joke anyday anytime!! Because tell me which sane country this nonsense would happen? Isn’t there supposed to be an order of things? Like what happened to following procedures and protocols?”
