10 Nigerian entertainers who have been in long unions

1. Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva

These veteran Nollywood actors have one of the longest-standing marriages in the industry. The couple have been married for 39 years, weathering the storm together. 


2. Charly Boy and Diane Oputa

Controversial singer, songwriter, actor and producer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy or Areafada, also has one of the longest marriages in the industry.  He got married to his wife, an African-American singer, Diane Oputa, in 1979 and the couple have been together for 47 years now. The couple also renewed their vows in 2018.  


3. Mercy Johnson and Prince Okojie

Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie and her husband, Prince Okojie have been married for 13 years, they celebrated their anniversary on Tuesday, August 27. They got married in 2011 and their union has been blessed with four children. 


4. Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and Captian Ekeinde

Veteran Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has been married to her husband, Captain Ekeinde for 28 years and their union has been blessed with four children. 


5. RMD and Jumobi Adegbesan

Veteran Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo got married to his wife, Jumobi Adegbesan in the year 2000. The couple have been happily married with two children since then. Although, this is not RMD’s first marriage. He was married to May Ellen Mofe-Damijo, a writer and journalist who died from complications after surgery in 1996. 


6. Omoni Oboli and Nnamdi Oboli

Nollywood actress, Omoni Oboli and her husband, a movie producer, Nnamdi Oboli have been married for 24 years. Their union is blessed with three sons. The couple recently became grandparents when their first son, Tobe welcomed his first child with his wife, Marelle Bergsma on Monday, August 12.  


7. Gloria and Norbert Young

Veteran Nollywood actors, Norbert Young and Gloria Young have been married for 22 years and have publicly displayed their affection for each other several times, showcasing their undying love for one another. 

  

8. Darey Art Alade and Deola Ayeni

Popular Nigerian Singer and host, Dare Art Alade and his wife, Deola Art Alade, a top interior designer, have been married for 17 years. The couple have two children and have managed to keep their marriage intact since 2007. 


9. Tunde and Wunmi Obe

Veteran Nigerian singers, Tunde and Wunmi Obe, also known as T.W.O have been married for 26 years and their love seems to be waxing stronger and stronger. 

 

10. Peter Okoye and Lola Omotayo

Peter Okoye of Psquare and his wife Lola Omotayo have been happily married for 11 years despite the criticism and controversy they faced since they got married. Many Nigerians gave Peter so much grief for marrying a Yoruba woman as an Igbo man and for marrying a woman older than him. But despite everything, they are still standing strong. His twin brother, Paul, however, has been divorced and remarried, reportedly expecting a baby with his new partner.
