Afrobeats singer Asake has broken a Spotify Nigeria record after becoming the first artiste to have his three albums chart simultaneously on the top 10 list.
This is coming a few days after the release of his most anticipated album Lungu Boy, his third studio work to solidify his 3-year consecutive album run.
In a post via X (formerly Twitter), on August 12, Album Talks shared the announcement and the ranking of Asake’s three albums on the top 10 Spotify list.
It wrote, “Asake becomes the first ever act to have 3 albums charting in the NG Spotify Top 10 simultaneously: #5, Work of Art, #6, Lungu Boy, #10, MMWTV. Charting is a lifestyle.”
Asake’s debut Mr. Money with the Vibe was released in September 2022 and shortly after its release, it broke the record for the highest-charting Nigerian debut album in the history of the chart.
In June 2023, his sophomore work, Work of Art, came to life and has received similar critical acclaim in streams and milestones achieved. With his recent release, Lungu Boy, Asake is on track to surpassing his previous milestones—in just a few days, it has set records and topped charts.
