Renowned actress Patience Ozokwo, popularly known as Mama G, is one of the most memorable faces in the Nollywood industry and her track record is quite commended.

Growing up in the late '90s and early 2000s, many millennial kids who watched home videos can attest to the popularity of Patience Ozokwor. 

The actress, who used to be a broadcaster on Radio Nigeria, rose to fame in Nollywood, with her memorable role in Authority in 1999. 

Tracing her portfolio since then, the talented actress known for ‘villain’ mother-in-law roles has attained an admirable career worth recognising. 

Kicking off her acting career way back from primary school, Patience Ozokwor, who studied fine and applied arts, is indeed a Nollywood acting legend. 

In 2012 and 2013 awards at the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards, she won the Best Supporting Actress. In 2023, she was named the Merit Award winner at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award.

  • Authority in (1999)

Authority was the breakout film that solidified Patience Ozokwor in 1999. In the film, Patience Ozokwor acted as a mother-in-law, who was always at loggerheads with her daughter-in-law. The dramatic performance earned her fans who grew to love her natural yet professional delivery of characters. 

  • Susana in Ukwa (2001)

Patience Ozokwor embodied the role of Susana in the classic Nollywood film ‘Ukwa’. Featuring alongside veteran Nkem Owoh, the role also solidified her veteran status in the industry.

  • Mama G in Old School (2002) 

The movie released in 2002 features Patience Ozokwor as Mama G in Old School. Acting as an unsettled wife and mother obsessed with the pleasures of life —never joking with her bottle of beer. The actress left a strong-willed, Charismatic and memorable delivery of her role. The character earned her the most popular nickname, Mama G. It is no surprise that this character stuck with people the most. 

  • Ulunma in Blood Sister (2003) 

In Tchidi Chikere’s 2003 film, Blood Sister, Patience Ozokwor played the mother to popular actresses Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade Ekeinde. As Ulunma, her role was one for the books —Memorable enough to remember her stellar performance.

  • Madam Pat in Chief Daddy (2018)

In 2018, Patience Ozokwor appeared in Mo Abudu’s film, Chief Daddy. The story revolves around a billionaire industrialist who died and left a will. Acting as Madam Pat, she also delivered a memorable performance.
