  • Asa - ‘Grateful’

Off her album, Bed of Stone, Asa’s Grateful compares the birds of the air and how they give thanks to God despite being animals. For humans she says, “You don't have to wait til you feel the pain. You can start right now, it’s not too late to be grateful,”  The song is uplifting and leaves listeners in an introspective mood to appreciate God.

  • Asake - ‘Olorun’

In Olorun, Asake off his second studio album, Work of Art, tells the world that God is his helper, the one behind his success story and fame. In his usual Yoruba lines he says, “Emi ko, Olorun ma ni,” which translates literally to “It is not me but God.” Asake never fails to give thanks to God in his songs.

  • Wizkid - ‘Blessed’

Featuring Damian Marley in Blessed off his Made in Lagos album, Wizkid basks in the happiness he feels and the blessings he enjoys. His line “and nobody can deny me that I am blessed,” says it all. The mid-tempo track recounts his moments of blessings and gives thanks to the one who creates life.

  • Fireboy DML - ‘Iseoluwa’

‘Iseoluwa’ by Fireboy DML will make you wonder and think back on numerous blessings that are most times unexplainable. It happens and you look back with gratitude because you know it cannot have been by your ability alone. “Ise oluwa ko s’eni to ye, bi mo se se mi o mo,” a powerful line that recognises the miraculous hand of God in his life and success.

  • Dagrin, Omawunmi - ‘Thank God’

Late Dagrin delivered a memorable Thanksgiving song, Thank God, with popular vocalist Omawunmi. Released on his debut and only album C.E.O, the track tells the story of how Dagrin suffered challenges prior to his musical career. The singer recognised that he has only God to thank for sustaining him in every challenging situation.
