Beyond his legendary rap bars and discovering young talents, Olamide has written many Afrobeats hits songs in collaboration with artistes.

This is a fact that many fans rarely know about the Afrobeats legend because he doesn't see it as a big deal. While Olamide doesn’t make a fuss about it, it is easy to find his songwriting credits on some Afrobeats hit songs on Spotify.

Based on a recent compilation by 49th Street, on August 5, TheRadar spotlights Olamide, who is rarely recognised for his songwriting prowess with credits to some popular hit tracks.

From Asake’s Lonely at the Top to Tiwa Savage’s 49-99, the Afrobeats legend and rapper, known for his creating platforms to promote young artistes, has also written songs for various artistes as a means of expressing himself too.

EP Review: Ikigai highlights Olamide’s music purpose and supreme hit-making ability

Earlier, TheRadar reviewed Olamide’s EP released on June 27, 2024. Despite implying that the ‘Unruly’ album might be his last; Olamide’s recently-released EP, Ikigai has once again proven that his purpose is truly to make music.

He simply cannot stop making music even if he wants to, and this latest addition to his discography is evidence. He even goes to the faraway Japanese culture to pick a title. The extended play’s (EP) title comes from the Japanese word Iki, which means to live, while gai means reason.
