The popular Telegram-powered tapper game Hamster Kombat lost over 18 million players between November and today. The game’s token HMSTR also lost 97% of the trading volume reported on November 10.
Hamster Kombat was one of the most popular Telegram-powered tappers on Web3. In August this year, the game’s developers claimed to have over 300 million active players. However, the game has seen a continuous, massive decline since the HMSTR token listing and the start of trading.
Though several players were disappointed when the token airdrop occurred, as many, especially in Nigeria, claimed they were cheated and neglected, some crypto analysts never believed the decline would be so fast.

On November 4, TheRadar reported that Hamster Kombat had lost some 260 million players in just 3 months and was left with just 40.9 million. Between the date of the last report and now, Hamster Kombat has lost some 18 million players, with the number of players declining from 40.9 million then to 22.8 million players at the time of writing.
According to CoinGecko data, HMSTR’s trade volume crashed 97% from $1.5 billion on November 10 to $49 million today. At the time of writing, HMSTR was trading for $0.003667, up 1% in the past day.
The market capitalisation is not doing any better: it crashed from $660 million on September 26 to $199 million on December 10. It appreciated a little to $237 million at the time of writing.
The game failed to release its "season 2" which would include more playable content by the end of October, as promised.
According to its roadmap, the game should have "NFT mechanics" by now, but this is not the case. The announcement of a DAO is the only recent development from the Hamster Kombat team—and it is not on the roadmap.
The roadmap states, "The DAO will enable $HMSTR token holders to vote, make decisions, and decide the ecosystem's future." No release date or other information has been given.
Hamster Kombat developers have remained unknown, and the game has no public company structure, employees' names, or headquarters location.
