The gift card trend is not limited to Nigeria but has become popular in other African countries like Ghana, South Africa and Kenya.
Due to its growing popularity, many payment platforms, especially crypto exchanges in Nigeria, have started offering the all-important gift cards to the naira conversation service. But not all platforms that claim to provide the service do it really well.
In this article, we will show you 4 top-rated platforms or apps on which you can convert your gift cards to naira. But first, let's explain what gift cards are.
What is a gift card?
A gift card, according to this one.com definition, is a card or an online voucher that contains a specific amount of money available for use for a variety of purchases. Store gift cards are designed to be used at specific merchants or retailers, while general-use prepaid gift cards are not affiliated with any specific merchant and can also be used to withdraw cash at automated teller machines, according to Investopedia.
A gift card could be virtual or physical, and it is a great gift if you know that the receiver likes the shop/theme of the store but doesn’t know what items they would need exactly.
Apple/iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, Sephora, and American Express gift cards are the most popular gift cards in Nigeria. Others are Steam, Razer Gold, eBay, Walmart, and Nike.
