The community of one of the world’s breakout cryptocurrencies and the 11th largest by market capitalisation, $PI Network, is ecstatic as it sets to celebrate its 2025 $PI Day on March 14.

The day is also celebrated by mathematics enthusiasts worldwide as Pi Day and the International Day of Mathematics (IDM). The day aims to raise awareness about mathematics's importance and role in shaping our world and to promote its beauty and relevance to a broader audience.

In mathematics, pi (the Greek letter π) stands for a constant, which is roughly 3.14159. Pi is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. It has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point.

Narrowing it down to the $PI, the day is celebrated widely across the community online and offline. In anticipation, the coin surged by 21.14% to $1.65 at the time of writing. According to Coinmarketcap data, the trade volume in the past day has also recorded an upward trend, surging by 92.79% to $798.22 million. The coin's market cap has also surged by 19.63% to $11.8 billion, placing it in 11th position on the largest cryptocurrencies log.

Interestingly, many market observers optimistically attribute the current upswing to the impending Pi Day and expect a barrage of announcements during this period. Additionally, market confidence has been strengthened by the possible listing of $Pi Coin on Binance. Because of the recent rise in trading volume, market sentiment is incredibly bullish. Though the long-term outlook is still bullish, the price is under much bearish pressure after emerging from the descending parallel channel.

What to expect on $PI Day

One of the things to expect from this year’s PI Day is the conclusion of the KYC grace period. According to the developers, since it will be the last extension, pioneers who do not move their tokens to the mainnet will forfeit them.

On March 10, the Pi core team posted on its X account: “Reminder: The Grace Period requires both KYC and Mainnet migration to be completed by 8:00 a.m. UTC on March 14, 2025, to avoid forfeiting most of your Pi other than Pi mined within the rolling window of the last six months before your Pi is migrated.”

Pi is quickly expanding its decentralised ecosystem, with more than 100 decentralised applications (dApps) reportedly under development. "Pi Network is preparing to unveil 100+ dApps, enhancing the coin's real-world utility," wrote The Times of PiNetwork, an X user excited about the impending upgrades.

PI is set to influence and stand out in the Web3 space with its large community, 65 million active users, over 150 million app downloads and increasing adoption rate.
