Dangote Group has deepened its partnership with the Niger State Government in a move aimed at driving industrialisation, boosting rice production, and expanding economic opportunities across the state.

According to a statement issued by the company’s Group Chief Branding and Communication Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the partnership covers several economic and agricultural initiatives designed to strengthen food security and attract investment.

As part of the collaboration, Dangote Rice Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the state government for the supply of paddy rice over the next decade.

“According to the MoU, Dangote Rice Limited has committed to a guaranteed off-take of 1 million metric tons of paddy rice, which Niger Foods will supply to boost food sufficiency in Nigeria,” the statement said.

The company also disclosed that construction work on the Dangote Rice Mill located in Wushishi is progressing steadily.

The project, being developed on a 30-hectare site, is expected to significantly improve local rice processing capacity when completed.

Speaking on the project, Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman said the 32-metric-tonnes-per-hour rice mill remains on schedule.

“Construction of the 32 metric tonnes per hour Dangote Rice Mill, being developed on a 30-hectare site in Wushishi, is progressing steadily and is on track for completion,” she said.

She added that the project would strengthen food security efforts, create jobs, and support agricultural development in Nigeria.

Wali-Abdurrahman further revealed that several Strategic Business Units of the Dangote Group are participating in the 22nd edition of the Niger Trade Fair.

The participating companies include Dangote Cement Plc, NASCON Allied Industries Plc, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, and Dangote Fertiliser Limited.

The company also created a dedicated help desk to address inquiries concerning the Dangote Refinery, its Vision 2030 agenda, and other business operations.

Dangote Group is the major sponsor of the 2026 Niger National Trade Fair, which opens on Thursday with the theme, “Public Private Partnership as the Panacea for Nigeria Economic Growth and Stability.”

Director-General of the Niger Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Adamu Salihu, said the fair is expected to host about 300 exhibitors, including investors, policymakers, and business leaders from across Nigeria.

“Dangote is not only industrialising Nigeria but indeed the whole of Africa,” Salihu said, adding that the chamber would continue to promote the company’s achievements across the continent.

He also noted that indigenous investment remains critical to Nigeria’s economic growth, stressing that local businesses play a bigger role in creating jobs, building capacity, and sustaining national prosperity.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Niger Foods, Sammy Adigun, disclosed that the partnership would require the development of 25,000 hectares of commercial rice farms over the next 10 years.

According to him, the initiative is projected to create about 50,000 direct jobs while strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.

Dangote unveils plan for mega Tanzania refinery to rival Lagos plant

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that Africa’s richest industrialist, Aliko Dangote, had unveiled plans to construct a new oil refinery in Tanzania, modeled after his flagship 650,000 barrels-per-day facility in Lagos.

The proposed refinery will be located in Tanga and is expected to process crude oil sourced from countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan.

The project is designed to serve as a regional energy hub for East Africa.
