- Viktor Gyokeres is available for transfer from Sporting Lisbon for £63 million, £20 million below his release clause, sparking Premier League interest
- Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal are reportedly interested in the prolific Swedish striker after his recent standout performances
- Gyokeres, with 23 goals in 17 matches this season, will complete his season with Sporting while manager Ruben Amorim departs for Manchester United
Swedish international Viktor Gyokeres, who recently scored a hat-trick in Sporting Lisbon’s stunning 4-1 Champions League victory over Manchester City, has caught the attention of top Premier League clubs as Sporting has lowered his release clause by £20 million.
Sporting had initially set Gyokeres’s release clause at €100 million (£83 million), but recent reports indicate that the Portuguese club is willing to let him go for £63 million this summer.
The 26-year-old striker has rapidly become one of Europe’s most coveted attackers under outgoing Sporting’s manager, Ruben Amorim. His impressive record of 23 goals in just 17 games this season has turned heads at clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal, which have been linked to the former Coventry City player. The lowered release clause opens the door for these clubs to make a move for Gyokeres, who is under contract with Sporting until 2028.
Speaking on the transfer buzz, Amorim addressed speculation about Gyokeres potentially joining him at Manchester United, where he’s set to start as head coach after one final match against Braga,
“I’ve just made peace with the Sporting fans, so I’m not even going to make a joke about it.
“Gyokeres is a Sporting player, which is a great club…he just has to stay and finish the season at the club,” he said.
Amorim’s move to Manchester United has raised questions over the potential compatibility of United’s current squad with his signature 3-4-3 formation and ignited fresh interest in attackers like Gyokeres who could potentially strengthen the Manchester side. However, United goalkeeper Andre Onana asserted this week that United’s present team has the quality needed, suggesting that significant changes might not be necessary, Onana said,
“It was a great victory by the way and a different system. But my team-mates, we are all pragmatic, everyone here is capable of playing in each system so I don’t think it will be an issue for us. We have big players and they will step up.”
Gyokeres, who has previously played for Brighton and spent a loan spell at Swansea City, remains a brilliant prospect for clubs looking to secure a prolific and versatile forward.
Sporting paid £20 million to bring him from Coventry City last season, meaning a sale at £63 million would represent a substantial profit for the Portuguese side.
Ruben Amorim reportedly eyes Osimhen's former teammate as first signing for Man United
Previously, TheRadar reported that newly appointed Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim was reportedly setting his sights on signing Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has taken Serie A by storm at Napoli.
Ruben Amorim set his sights on him as a necessary addition to his squad rebuild at Old Trafford.
