Fury, famously dubbed “The Gypsy King,” is still recovering from his second career loss after a unanimous decision against Usyk in Saudi Arabia. Despite the setback, Fury has vowed to return stronger.

Meanwhile, Joshua has been focusing on recovery and preparation, having last fought in September, where he suffered a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois during their IBF heavyweight title fight at Wembley.

Joshua acknowledged the anticipation surrounding a potential clash with Fury, describing it as the fight fans have been clamouring for across the globe,

“Everywhere I go, people ask me, ‘When are you fighting Fury?’ It’s not just an English or Irish thing; even the Nigerian community wants this fight,” Joshua said.

“As a fighter, it’s up to me to make it happen.”

The former heavyweight champion also credited his team, including Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing, for laying the groundwork. Joshua mentioned the support of Turki Alalshikh and DAZN as important in making the fight possible,

“With the right people backing me, I’m confident this fight can come to life,” he said.

Joshua’s journey back to the ring has been about more than physical preparation. After his defeat to Dubois, he took a much-needed break to heal both physically and mentally.

Reflecting on his time off, Joshua revealed,

“I declined business opportunities and stepped back from the spotlight. It was crucial for my mental health and physical recovery. Now, I’m ready to make a statement.”

Joshua has vowed to leave an unforgettable legacy in the sport and sees a bout with Fury as a cornerstone of that ambition.
