- Liverpool is planning a €100 million offer for Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman and Ederson
- Manchester City, Tottenham, and Newcastle are also interested in the Atalanta duo
- Liverpool scouts watched Ederson and Lookman shine in Atalanta’s win over Shakhtar Donetsk
Liverpool’s ambitious transfer plans for next summer appear to be in full swing as the club reportedly prepares a significant €100 million offer for Atalanta stars Ademola Lookman and Ederson, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
With Manchester City, Tottenham, and Newcastle all keeping a close watch on the duo, Liverpool is looking to make a major statement in the market as Arne Slot’s team is already showing promises early season having won an impressive 9 out of 10 games. Despite a somewhat quiet summer window, it is safe to say that the Reds have had a strong start under Dutch tactician Slot.
However, the manager has recognised a few key areas where further quality is needed, particularly in midfield and attack. Ederson, a 25-year-old Brazilian capable of playing as both a number six and an eight, is one of the prime targets. After failing to secure Martin Zubimendi during the summer, Liverpool views Ederson as a suitable alternative, especially given his strong performances for Atalanta.
Liverpool representatives were reportedly present during Atalanta’s recent Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk, where Ederson delivered an impressive display. At the same time, they monitored Ademola Lookman, whose current form has been nothing short of spectacular, having made 6 goal contributions in six matches for Atlanta this season. The 26-year-old Super Eagles winger was instrumental in Atalanta’s 2-0 win, contributing directly to both goals.
His versatility in attack has also caught the attention of Liverpool scouts. Lookman can comfortably play in all three positions up front, a quality highly valued at Liverpool, which believes Lookman could add another dimension to their frontline.
Manchester City sees Ederson as a potential solution to cover Rodri’s absence due to injury, while Tottenham and Newcastle are also keeping tabs on both players to add depth to their squads.
With the competition heating up, Liverpool is prepared to invest €100 million to bring both players to Anfield. However, it remains to be seen how this will play out by next summer's transfer window, as it is very unlikely that Atlanta will release any of its stars mid-season.
“Ademola was unstoppable,” Benin’s coach Rohr voices out frustration in Super Eagles last game
Previously, TheRadar reported that Gernot Rohr, head coach of Benin Republic, candidly admitted his squad's inability to contain Ademola Lookman during their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Saturday in Uyo.
The Super Eagles’ 3-0 triumph was largely driven by the dazzling performance of the Atalanta winger, who netted twice to secure a dominant victory for Nigeria.
