The Super Eagles are set to face Jordan in an international friendly during the March FIFA national team window.
According to Afrik-Foot, the match is scheduled to take place in Amman, Jordan’s capital, sometime between March 23 and 31, following an agreement reached by both football federations.
Jordan will use the friendly as part of their preparations for their debut at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Middle Eastern nation, drawn in a group alongside African opponents including Algeria, sees a clash against Nigeria as an ideal warm-up ahead of the global tournament.
For Nigeria, the fixture provides head coach Eric Chelle with a timely chance to evaluate new and emerging players while rebuilding the squad after missing out on World Cup qualification via the African playoffs.
Nigeria’s World Cup hopes ended following a penalty shootout defeat to DR Congo in the African qualifying playoffs held in Morocco.
However, the Nigeria Football Federation lodged a formal protest with FIFA in December, alleging that DR Congo fielded ineligible players during the tie.
A ruling from FIFA is expected in the coming days. Should the decision favour Nigeria, the Super Eagles could still participate in the inter-confederation playoffs scheduled next month in Mexico.
Until then, the March friendly against Jordan remains an important opportunity for Chelle’s squad to maintain competitiveness.
