The Saudi Pro League’s spending spree is showing no signs of slowing down and this time, Victor Boniface is the latest European star on the verge of making a lucrative switch to the Middle East.

The Bayer Leverkusen striker is reportedly set to complete a sensational move to Al Nassr, with negotiations reaching an advanced stage and a staggering €15 million net salary per season on the table.

Reports suggest that Bayer Leverkusen and Al Nassr have reached a verbal agreement on a transfer fee exceeding €60 million, paving the way for Boniface’s imminent departure. The Nigerian striker has already completed his medical, confirming his readiness for the switch.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg have both validated the news, with Romano stating on X (formerly Twitter):

“Victor Boniface will join Al Nassr FC with immediate effect. Total agreement with Bayer 04 Leverkusen now has been reached about a final transfer fee of more than €60m. A verbal agreement was made. €15m net per season as revealed. The 24 y/o striker has already passed his medical with Al-Nassr.”

A high-level delegation from Al Nassr arrived in Germany on Monday, January 27, emphasising the club’s determination to finalise the deal. Bayer Leverkusen, initially hesitant to part ways with their star forward, ultimately agreed to enter discussions, recognising the financial windfall the transfer offers.

Boniface has been a revelation in Germany since joining Leverkusen from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023. Despite struggling with injuries this season, his goal contributions have been pivotal in Xabi Alonso’s system, making him one of Europe’s most sought-after young strikers.

The 24-year-old’s absence from Leverkusen’s training session on Tuesday, January 28,  fuelled speculation that the deal was close. While the Bundesliga club has yet to officially confirm his departure, sources suggest that his omission from training was directly linked to ongoing negotiations with Al Nassr.

Leverkusen’s coach Xabi Alonso himself acknowledged the situation in his pre-match press conference,

“There is this situation and I understand that. There are discussions with the club. We have to wait. We’re preparing for the game without Boni, of course.”

With both clubs working to finalise the remaining financial details, Boniface’s move to Saudi Arabia appears to be just a matter of time.

Few days after announcing N2m giveaway for fans, Boniface gets fined N44m

Previously, TheRadar reported that Super Eagles and Bayer Leverkusen striker, Victor Boniface, had been hit with a one-match suspension and a $25,000 fine following an incident of unsportsmanlike conduct during last week’s Super Cup match against VfB Stuttgart.

The German Football Association (DFB) decided after Boniface was accused of making an obscene gesture toward Stuttgart players in the post-match celebrations. The timing of the suspension comes just four days after Boniface announced plans for a social media giveaway for his fans on X app, formerly Twitter.
