Super Eagles Victor Osimhen's time at Galatasaray appeared to be winding down, with reports suggesting that the Turkish club had already begun preparing for his departure.

Despite the Nigerian striker publicly stating that he intended to see out his loan spell until the summer, speculation surrounding his future continued to dominate headlines.

Osimhen had initially joined Galatasaray to escape a potential bench-warmer role at Napoli, after failing to secure a move to one of Europe’s elite clubs in the summer. However, his impact in Istanbul had been nothing short of remarkable, so much so that Galatasaray attempted to sign him permanently.

According to recent reports, the club launched a massive €65 million bid for the 26-year-old on Wednesday, January 29. However, Napoli swiftly rejected the offer, insisting that any club interested in securing Osimhen’s services must trigger his €75 million release clause.

With that setback, Galatasaray had reportedly shifted their focus to securing a replacement, and they were already in advanced talks with AC Milan striker Álvaro Morata, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Morata’s potential move to Istanbul came as a shock, as the Spanish international had only joined AC Milan in the summer. However, the move made sense in both the short and long term for Galatasaray.

Initially, Morata was expected to serve as a stand-in for Mauro Icardi, who was ruled out for the rest of the season due to an ACL injury. But beyond that, the 32-year-old striker would likely be positioned as Osimhen’s long-term successor.

Meanwhile, Osimhen’s future remained uncertain, with several top clubs still eyeing a move for him. Chelsea and Manchester United were among those linked, as they continued their search for a reliable No.9.

Morata’s potential transfer also had the potential to set off a chain reaction in the striker market. AC Milan were reportedly keen on signing Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, meaning Morata’s exit could clear the path for yet another high-profile forward switch.

While Osimhen had yet to publicly address the latest developments, his summer departure from Galatasaray now appeared inevitable. Whether he would finally land a move to one of Europe’s top leagues remained to be seen.

Previously, TheRadar reported that Galatasaray was preparing to shake up the January transfer window with a not-so-surprising move for Nigeria’s star forward Victor Osimhen.

While Chelsea had long been linked with the 25-year-old striker, the Turkish champions are now looking to secure a permanent deal to keep Osimhen in Istanbul, a city where he has quickly won the hearts of fans.
