- Napoli loanee Victor Osimhen has scored 14 goals and provided four assists in 18 league games, helping Galatasaray stay unbeaten and top of the Süper Lig table
- His loan deal from Napoli does not include an option to buy, meaning Galatasaray must negotiate if they want to keep him permanently
- While Napoli could still sell him, Osimhen’s recent comments suggest he will not push for a Premier League move
Arsenal and Chelsea may need to rethink their summer transfer plans after Victor Osimhen's latest actions suggested he is growing increasingly attached to Galatasaray.
The Nigerian striker, who was previously linked with a big-money move to the Premier League, appears content in Turkey, making a switch away from Istanbul far from certain.
Osimhen, 26, was widely expected to join an English club last summer, but the anticipated move never materialised.
Instead, he secured a surprise loan switch from Napoli to Turkish giants Galatasaray, where he has flourished in the Süper Lig. With 14 goals and four assists in just 18 league appearances, the prolific forward has been instrumental in helping Okan Buruk’s side remain unbeaten and top of the table.
Despite being only a loanee, Osimhen has built a strong connection with Galatasaray supporters. After scoring a brace in a 2-1 victory over Çaykur Rizespor on Monday night, February 17, he took to Instagram to share celebratory pictures, including one where he kissed the club’s badge, an image that has now fuelled speculation about his future.
Unlike many loan deals, Osimhen's agreement with Galatasaray does not include an option to buy, meaning he will return to Napoli when the season ends unless a new arrangement is negotiated.
This has left top European clubs on alert, with Arsenal and Chelsea among those keeping a close eye on his next move. However, Osimhen’s recent statements indicate that he is in no hurry to leave Istanbul.
Back in November, following a Europa League victory over Tottenham Hotspur, the striker made it clear he had no intention of leaving Galatasaray in the January window.
He praised the club's family-like atmosphere and emphasised his focus on winning silverware,
"I’m here as a Galatasaray player, I’m happy here, since I came, the Galatasaray fans, the club, I saw how big a family this club is… Right now, I’m focused on this team and the objectives set for the season," he had said.
While Osimhen did acknowledge that discussions between Napoli and Galatasaray could influence his future, his words and actions suggest that prying him away from Turkey this summer may be more difficult than Arsenal and Chelsea anticipated.
Galatasaray joins race for Osimhen's signature, ready to bid €50 million
Previously, TheRadar reported that Galatasaray was preparing to shake up the January transfer window with a not-so-surprising move for Nigeria’s star forward Victor Osimhen.
While Chelsea had long been linked with the 25-year-old striker, the Turkish champions are now looking to secure a permanent deal to keep Osimhen in Istanbul, a city where he has quickly won the hearts of fans.
