- Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe is more positive about his relationship with Vinicius Jr. after their decisive 3-0 win over Leganes in La Liga
- The win propelled Madrid closer to Barcelona, with the potential to inch closer to topping the table after their game in hand
- Real Madrid will now prepare for an intense Champions League clash with Liverpool at Anfield
Real Madrid’s star forward, Kylian Mbappe commented on his partnership with Brazilian teammate Vinicius Jr. following their impressive 3-0 victory over Leganes in La Liga on Sunday, November 24. The duo combined brilliantly to secure the win, with Vinicius setting up a long-awaited goal for the Frenchman in the opening minutes.
Real Madrid’s victory helped ease the pain of last month’s humiliating 4-0 defeat to rivals Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu. Los Blancos now sit just below and ready to overtake Barcelona at the top of the league standings, provided they win their game in hand against Valencia.
In a post-match interview with Real Madrid TV, Mbappe expressed his delight over his growing on-field connection with Vinicius Jr.
“I have a good relationship with Vini, with him and with all the Madrid players. We are ready to play many games together and win many titles, it’s the story of my career – I play on the right, in the centre, on the left. I want to play well and score a lot of goals,” he remarked.
Interestingly, Mbappe was absent from France's national squad for the UEFA Nations League fixtures in both October and November. Rather than jetting off during the international break, the forward remained in Madrid, training hard. Speaking about this, he said,
“It’s very good for me to train with the boys from La Fabrica Academy and Castilla. I didn’t know many of them, but they have a lot of quality.”
With Barcelona faltering in a 2-2 draw against Celta Vigo, Madrid’s win at Leganes became all the more important. Mbappe acknowledged the importance of the victory, adding,
“We came here to win. We knew the importance of the match and started with a good rhythm. The first goal was very important.”
Madrid now shifts focus to their Champions League clash against Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday, November 27.
