- Haaland equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the fastest 100 goals at a European club
- The Norwegian’s goal came during City’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal
- Haaland's name is now among the fastest to 100 goals, alongside Luis Suarez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Norwegian forward Erling Haaland added another accolade to his growing list of achievements as he equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the fastest 100 goals scored at a European club.
Haaland netted his 100th goal for Manchester City in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Sunday, September 22, a game that lived up to its anticipation as one of the season’s top clashes.
The match played in front of 50,000 fans at the Etihad Stadium, saw Haaland take centre stage early on. In just the 9th minute, he opened the scoring for City, finishing into the bottom right corner after receiving a perfectly timed pass from Savinho. Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya had no answer to the Norwegian's precise strike.
With that goal, Haaland joined an elite group of Manchester City players to have scored 100 goals, becoming the 19th in the club's history to achieve the feat. This milestone also placed him in the company of Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne, and Raheem Sterling, some of the greatest forwards the club has ever had.
Even more remarkable is that Haaland equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of scoring 100 goals in 105 appearances, which the Portuguese icon set while playing for Real Madrid in 2011.
Haaland's name now appears alongside other footballing greats on the list of fastest players to reach 100 goals for a European club. These include Luis Suarez, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Robert Lewandowski, each of whom has left an indelible mark on the game.
This season, Haaland has been in exceptional form, with nine goals from just four matches, he broke Wayne Rooney's record for the most goals scored in the first four games of a Premier League season, a feat Rooney had set in the 2011/12 campaign.
Since he arrived in 2022, Haaland has been a key figure in Manchester City's dominance, helping them win their fourth consecutive Premier League title and finishing last season as the league’s top scorer with 36 goals.
