As the season enters its decisive stretch, every point matters, and every performance is under the spotlight. Here’s a breakdown of how the league’s elite performed over the weekend.

How the top 6 EPL clubs performed

Here's a summary of how the top 6 teams performed:

Manchester City 5-2 Crystal Palace

Just six days after the Manchester derby draw, Manchester City silenced their critics by staging a sensational comeback to defeat Crystal Palace 5-2 at the Etihad Stadium.

Palace stunned the hosts early on, capitalising on defensive disarray as Eberechi Eze and Chris Richards fired the visitors into a two-goal lead. A third goal, ruled out by the new semi-automated offside system, proved to be a turning point.

Kevin De Bruyne, in what is certainly his farewell season at City, led the comeback. His bending free-kick halved the deficit before Omar Marmoush netted City's equaliser just before half-time. Mateo Kovacic’s low finish one minute into the second half put the home side ahead.

James McAtee, on his first Premier League start, made it four after a clever run and finish, while Nico O’Reilly’s deflected strike sealed City’s first five-goal haul in a home league match this season.

Ederson’s injury was the only blemish in an otherwise rampant display that lifted City to fourth, piling pressure on Chelsea and Newcastle in the race for Champions League spots.

Arsenal 1-1 Brentford

At the Emirates, Arsenal’s momentum took a minor hit as they were held 1-1 by Brentford. Fresh off a midweek thrashing of Real Madrid, Mikel Arteta rotated heavily, and the Gunners looked very dull.

Thomas Partey’s thumping finish after a Declan Rice run gave Arsenal the lead, but Brentford responded through Yoane Wissa, whose clever finish punished a lapse in Arsenal’s backline. The draw leaves Arsenal clinging to second place, their title hopes further dented.

Chelsea 2-2 Ipswich Town

Chelsea’s turbulent season continued as they dropped more crucial points in a 2-2 draw against relegation-threatened Ipswich at Stamford Bridge.

Goals from Julio Enciso and Ben Johnson gave Ipswich a shock two-goal cushion. An own goal from Axel Tuanzebe and a late Jadon Sancho curler salvaged a point for the Blues, but it was far from enough.

Now fifth and three points behind Nottingham Forest, Chelsea’s Champions League hopes are hanging by a thread.

Wolves 4-2 Tottenham

Wolves produced one of their best performances of the season to beat Tottenham 4-2 at Molineux and take a major step toward safety.

Rayan Ait-Nouri’s early strike set the tone before a bizarre own goal added to Spurs’ woes. Mathys Tel and Richarlison scored for Tottenham, but goals from Jorgen Strand Larsen and returning forward Matheus Cunha sealed the win for Wolves.

Tottenham, now 15th, have lost 17 league matches this season, and manager Ange Postecoglou is under increasing pressure.

Liverpool 2-1 West Ham

Liverpool edged closer to a record-tying 20th league title with a 2-1 win over West Ham at Anfield.

Luis Diaz opened the scoring from a Mohamed Salah assist, but Andy Robertson’s own goal levelled the match. Virgil van Dijk’s towering 90th-minute header snatched the win, keeping Liverpool 13 points clear with six games to play. Alisson’s goalkeeping heroics were also crucial, while West Ham slid to 17th despite a valiant showing.

Newcastle 4-1 Manchester United

At St James’ Park, Harvey Barnes starred with a second-half brace as Newcastle dismantled Manchester United 4-1 to climb above Chelsea into fourth.

Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães also found the net as Newcastle overwhelmed a lacklustre United side managed by Ruben Amorim. Garnacho’s first-half strike gave United brief hope, but Barnes’ brilliance proved decisive.

With five wins in a row, Newcastle top 4 hopes revitalised, while United’s European hopes continue to fade.
