The 2024 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards dazzled fans and football enthusiasts on Monday night in Marrakesh, Morocco, as Africa’s finest talents were celebrated for their outstanding performances.
Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman stole the show, claiming the prestigious CAF Men’s Player of the Year Award, succeeding his compatriot Victor Osimhen. Lookman’s stellar season, highlighted by his heroic Europa League hat-trick and AFCON exploits, earned him the recognition.
In the women’s category, Zambia’s Barbra Banda emerged triumphant, winning the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award for her consistent brilliance with club and country.
South African shot-stopper Ronwen Williams added to the roll of honours, securing both the CAF Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year and Interclub Player of the Year awards following his impressive form for Mamelodi Sundowns.
Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie continued her dominance, winning the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year for the second consecutive time.
The awards ceremony not only honoured individual brilliance but also celebrated the continent’s growing football talent, putting Africa’s prominence on the global stage on Monday, December 16.
