Born in Borgomanero, Italy, to Nigerian parents, Victoria and Anthony, Kayode has represented Italy at the U18, U19, and U21 levels. Despite his eligibility for both countries, he has indicated a strong desire to earn a call-up to the senior Azzurri squad.
“The opportunity to play for both is amazing,” Kayode told The Athletic. “For every player, being in the national team is a dream, especially right now because the team is qualified for the World Cup. I really hope we qualify. I’m happy that the Nigerian people are happy for me.”
The 21-year-old defender is being closely monitored by Italy’s national team managers, Gennaro Gattuso and Eric Chelle, as the team prepares for the 2026 World Cup playoffs against Northern Ireland.
