Popular Nigerian footballer Victor Boniface has debunked widespread social media rumours surrounding his breakup with his Norwegian girlfriend, Rikke Hermine.
Speculations have been rife, particularly on social media platforms, claiming that their relationship ended because Hermine allegedly demanded a legal marriage without a prenuptial agreement.
The Bayer Leverkusen striker took to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday, January 23, to set the record straight, vehemently denying all the allegations surrounding the split. Although he confirmed that they have indeed gone their separate ways, Boniface described the claims about Hermine as baseless and accused the blog African Hub of propagating fake news.
In his post, Boniface expressed frustration at the misinformation being spread, writing:
“Stop posting fakes if you guys know nothing about... Una go just carry phone without knowing Wetin Dey sup just post. No be everybody be like una sister. So respect urself. Everything you guys say about her Are all LIES.”
African Hub had earlier tweeted that Boniface ended his four-year relationship with Hermine because she insisted on a legal marriage without a prenuptial agreement. The blog also provided an explanation of what a prenuptial agreement entails, further fueling online conversations.
“Nigerian footballer, Victor Boniface has reportedly ended his 4 years relationship with his Norwegian girlfriend, Rikke Hermine.
“According to reports, she insisted on a legal marriage without a prenup (A prenup is a contract protecting assets and finances of both parties in case of divorce or death),” the blog had posted.
While Boniface did not reveal specific details about the breakup, his response makes it clear that the reasons reported by the blog are false. As of now, Boniface has not shared further details about the breakup or his plans for the future, preferring to keep the matter private.

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that Victor Boniface continued his impressive form for Bayer Leverkusen, scoring in just the fourth minute of their 2-2 draw with Holstein Kiel on matchday six of the Bundesliga.
The early strike, which marked the Nigerian striker's quickest goal in the league, beating his previous record of nine minutes from Leverkusen’s dominant 4-1 win over Heidenheim in September.
